Southwestern's 2020 season came to an end with a 5-0 loss to 20th-ranked Providence in the Class 1A Girls Soccer Semifinals at Providence on Thursday.

The Pioneers scored three goals in the first half to take control of the game, then added two more in the second half for the final margin. Maci Hoskins scored two goals in the game for Providence while Brooklyn Stemple, Lauren Castleberry and Madeline Reed each had one each. Stemle, Reed, Emily Kemp and Mia Duggins each had assists. Caelea Graf had two saves in goal.

"They are at a different level and it is always a good eye opener for our new players," Southwestern coach Nancy Totten said. "Our regular goalie, Hannah Sampson, has been injured but able to help us defensively on the field. Jess Esquivel stepped in from sweeper to keeper and was looking good in this new position when an injury on Tuesday sidelined her from playing. We appreciate Lanie Anderson stepping in yesterday to try to learn the position. Tonight we played well as a team and with maximum effort. I am proud of the girls and grateful for this season together."

Southwestern ends the season with a 2-12-3 record and graduates five seniors: Isabel Brooks, Olivia Bruce, Kailey Burns, Brooklyn Sachleben, and Savannah White.
