Local golfers Brandon Tereshko and Hunter Mefford have both qualified for the Indiana Amateur Championships to be held in two weeks in Noblesville.

Tereshko, a 2010 Madison Consolidated High School graduate and the current head men’s and women’s golf coach at Hanover College, earned his second-straight trip to the Championship with an impressive three-under 69 to win the qualifier at Otter Creek Golf Course near Columbus on Monday. One of Tereshko’s players at Hanover, sophomore Caleb Lung, also qualified at Otter Creek by tying for 15th with a six-over 78.

Mefford, who just recently graduated from Southwestern High School and who will play at Purdue-Fort Wayne in the fall, tied for 15th with an 81 in the qualifier at the Bloomington Country Club on Saturday. Mefford, who will compete in the IHSAA Regional at Champions Pointe on Thursday, will be making his first appearance in the state amateur.

The Indiana Amateur Championships will be held June 17-20 at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville.
