HIROSHIMA, Japan - Madison's Bryan Bullington has been taken off Hiroshima's active roster with pain in the right side of his lower back and he will miss his next start for the Carp.

Bullington, who suffered the injury while fielding a bunt in Hiroshima's game with the Chiba Lotte Marines on June 4 at Onomichi Stadium, is targeting a return to the active roster before the end of inter-league play - either during the Nippon Ham series at the Sapporo Dome June 15-16 or a make-up with the Nippon Ham at Mazda Stadium on June 18.

Bullington, now 32 and a 1999 graduate of Madison, was at Mazda Stadium on Monday getting treatment for his back. Although he no longer feels pain during forward movement, he does still feel some pain when moving side-to-side.

Bullington is 2-5 with a 2.52 ERA in 12 starts with the Carp. His 78.2 inning pitched at the time of his injury were the most in the Nippon Professional Baseball League
