Madison’s Ryan Thurston made his American Association season debut over the weekend with a pair of outings with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

The lefthander pitched one scoreless inning in relief in Fargo-Moorhead’s 15-1 loss to Winnipeg on Saturday. He gave up two infield singles and struck out two on the day.

Thurston didn’t fare as well on Sunday, giving up two runs on three hits with a walk in a third of an inning in the RedHawks’ 8-7 win in 11 innings. Thurston entered the game with runners on second and third and one out in the sixth inning. He gave up a bloop single and a home run before getting a ground out. He then walked a batter and gave up another infield single before leaving the game.

The RedHawks are currently 1-2 on the season. Thurston has pitched 1 1/3 innings and has given up five hits, one walk, two runs and has two strikeouts.



Colemans place fourth

Bedford’s Gideon Coleman and Micah Coleman each placed fourth in the Bluegrass Golf Tour Adult-Child Stableford Fourball Gold Rush event at the Lindsey Golf Course in Fort Knox.

Gideon Coleman, a student at Providence Academy, shot a six-over 78 to place fourth in the Boys 15-18 event and teamed with Micah Coleman to shoot a three-over 75 and tie for fourth in the High School Fourball event.
