— Southwestern’s junior varsity volleyball team beat Rising Sn 25-21, 25-14 on Tuesday.

Riley Scroggins was 17-for-18 serving with two aces and two kills, Breona Brewer was 7-for-8 serving with three aces and four kills, Syrenia Hardy was 14-for-15 setting with five assists, and Jaden Davidson was 20-for-22 setting with four assists.

Southwestern, now 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the Ohio River Valley Conference, hosted Jac-Cen-Del on Thursday.

— Shawe’s junior varsity volleyball team suffered a 25-11, 25-13 loss at Charlestown on Wednesday.

Shawe, now 4-8 on the season, travels to Lanesville on Monday.

— The Madison Junior High boys soccer team defeated Jac-Cen-Del 3-1 on Thursday.

Brady Lock, Charlie Schwartz and Bode Heckler each had goals for the Bears with Griffin Schwartz providing an assist. Ethan Rose was the match MVP.

— The Madison Junior High School football teams split with South Dearborn at home on Thursday.

The seventh grade lost 32-0 while the eighth grade won 24-0 to improve to 3-0 on the season. Darius Jay had an interception for the Bears while James Schafer and Taytem Anderson also stood out. “A big shoutout to every player who played a defensive snap,” said coach Kenton Mahoney.

Both teams will play Jennings County next Thursday.

— Madison Junior High’s volleyball teams split with South Dearborn on Thursday.

The seventh grade won 25-12, 25-21 to improve to 7-0 on the season. Lilly Canida was 12-of-13 serving with four aces and 14-of-15 hitting and Mashaya Wells also had a good match.

The eighth grade lost in three sets. Michelle Laguna and Josie Chapin drew praise from their coaches for their play.

— Madison’s jayvee boys soccer team defeated South Dearborn 1-0 on a goal by Karson Couch on Thursday.

Madison, now 3-1 on the season, travel to North Harrison today.

— The Madison Church Volleyball League will have an organizational meeting at Wirt Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. on Monday

League play will take place on Monday nights at the Brown Gym.

— King’s Daughters’ Health will host the 22nd annual Run the Falls 5K at Clifty Falls State Park on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, several safety changes will be in effect for this year’s race, including registration pickup being held at the North Shelter and enhanced chip timing allowing runners and walkers to start with appropriate spacing. The time will not be recorded until the runner crosses the line.

Early bird registration is available until Monday and is $20 with a shirt or $15 without. The cost is $20 without a shirt after that date.
