Carroll County's girls suffered through two scoreless quarters and fell to Western Hills 58-24 in the Lady Panthers' basketball season opener Tuesday on the road.

The Panthers, playing in coach Paul Stone's debut, lost the first quarter by a 12-9 score and tied the third 15-15. But Carroll failed to score in the second and fourth quarters and that proved to be the difference.

Makena Kindoll led Carroll with nine points while Lauren Moore had four points and eight rebounds. Kayla Williamson scored five points and Doodle Amick, Tatum McIntyre and Miranda Groseclose each had two points.

Carroll County shot just 25 percent (11-for-44) from the floor and committed 25 turnovers.

The Panthers (0-1) host rival Trimble County on Friday.
