— Southwestern’s Tyler Kramer and Abby Ralston, and Shawe’s Kate Grote have been named the Ohio River Valley Conference basketball players of the week.
Kramer, a senior, picked up the award in boys basketball after scoring 41 points, grabbing 14 rebounds and dishing out nine assists in two games for the Class 2A No. 6 Rebels last week.
Ralston and Grote, both seniors, shared the award in boys basketball after each reached the 1,000-point milestone in the same game. Ralston scored 16 points in the Rebels’ win while Grote had 31 points and eight rebounds.

— Southwestern’s jayvee boys basketball team lost to Columbus East 50-37 at home on Saturday.
Tanner Williams and Billy Eccles scored 10 points each for the Rebels.
Southwestern, now 2-2, travels to New Washington on Friday.
•
— Madison’s junior varsity boys basketball team dropped its first loss of the season, 53-42 at home to Jennings County.
Jackson Falconberry had 17 points and Jared Ferguson scored 11 to lead the Cubs.
Madison, now 2-1 on the season, travels to South Dearborn on Friday.

— Southwestern’s seventh grade girls basketball team beat New Washington 37-12 on Monday.
Ashley Fulton led the Rebels with 17 points while Bree Mikesell had 6.
•
— Shawe Junior High’s boys basketball team lost a pair of games at Switzerland County on Monday.
The seventh grade fell 32-28. Philip Kahn led the Hilltoppers with 13 points.
The eighth grade lost 40-22. Logan Richardson had seven points.
Shawe hosted Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday night and the seventh and eightth grade split with the Eagles.
The Toppers won the seventh grade game 35-32. Philip Kahn led Shawe (4-3) with 12 points while Jacob Hertz and Logan Richardson added 10 and 9, respectively.
The eigth grade lost 37-26. Philip Kahn topped Shawe with 12 points off the bench and Eric Liu scored nine.
The eighth grade visits South Ripley Friday while the seventh grade is at Rock Creek Saturday.

— Southwestern’s jayvee girls basketball team fell to South Dearborn 31-9 at home on Tuesday.
Trinity McLain, Karli Youngs, Olivia Bruce and Riley Bibb scored two points each to lead Southwestern.
Southwestern hosts New Washington Thursday.

— Switzerland County’s junior varsity boys basketball team lost to South Decatur 59-43 at home on Tuesday.
Nathan Geyman scored 14 points and Austin Bosaw scored 13 to lead the Pacers.
Switzerland, now 2-2, travels to Rising Sun on Friday.

— Trimble County’s jayvee boys basketball team lost to Walton-Verona 53-20 at home on Wednesday.
Beau Turner scored seven points and Dylan Jennings had six to lead the Raiders.
Trimble, now 2-2 on the season, travels to North Oldham on Wednesday.

— Hanover Baptist Church will hold sign ups for its youth basketball league Monday, Dec. 10 and Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the church gymnasium.
The league, open to players grades three through high school, begins play Feb. 2, 2019 and continues through March 9. Cost is $35 per player and that includes fees, a team T-Shirt and a trophy.
