- Madison's boys junior varsity basketball team closed out the season with a 66-36 win over Switzerland County at Salm Gym in Madison.

Kyle Tucker led Madison (13-7) with 14 points while Tucker Callis and Carson Compton scored nine points each.

Riley Phagan led Switzerland County (14-6) with 11 points and Nathan Hunter scored eight.

- Madison's fifth grade girls basketball team won the Salem Tournament over the weekend.

The Cubs beat Bloomington 40-27 in the opener, Evansville 25-20 in game two and Corydon 32-26 in the third game. In the championship, Madison defeated Evansville again, this time by a 22-20 score.

- Madison Junior High's wrestling team defeated Jeffersonville Parkview 60-32 to end the regular season with a 10-4 record.

Winners for the Bears were: Camden Spears, Daunte O'Banion, Quinton Farris, Trenton Anderson, Gabe Bennett, Ethan Schafer, Daegon Branham, Corbin Hughes, Marcus Schoonover and Raymond Clutter.

Madison will host the eight-team Bear Rumble at the high school at 9 a.m. today.

- Southwestern's seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams closed out the regular season Wednesday by sweeping Rising Sun in Hanover.

The seventh graders rallied from a six-point fourth quarter deficit to send the game into overtime for a 37-35 win. Taylor Cole led the Rebels with a game-high 19 points and Kayla Adkins scored 14 with Kate Sampson adding five.

The seventh grade finished the season with a 7-10 record.

The eighth graders had one of their better scoring outings of the season for a 51-8 victory.

 Kelsi Brierly led the Lady Rebels with 14 points, Cassie Poer scored 12 and Maliah Howard added 10. Brittney Ralston and Lizzie Bramer scored four each, Kelsey Jones had three and Amber Morrison and Michaela Mahoney tallied two each as everyone on the team scored.

The eighth grade team finished the regular season with a 12-2 record.

- Tickets for Shawe Memorial's boys basketball sectional tournament at South Decatur are now on sale in the main office.

Tickets can be purchased from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today. 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Tickets are $10 each and are good for all session. Shawe faces Oldenburg in the opening round on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

- Shawe Memorial Junior/Senior High School is currently looking for coaches in junior high golf and junior high tennis.

- Madison Parks Department is accepting quotes for awards, hats, visors, T-shirts, basketball jerseys and football jerseys for its 2013 adult and youth sports seasons.

Businesses interested in submitting a quote should stop by the Parks Office located in the Brown Gym on Broadway to pick up the necessary information. All quotes must be received no later than today.

All quotes will be opened at the Feb. 27 Madison Parks Board meeting at city hall.

- The Madison Cub baseball team will host a camp for players in grades three through eight on Sunday and on March 3.

The cost of the camp is $40 and will last from 1-3 p.m. each day. Players will learn the proper fundamentals in baserunning, pitching, hitting, and fielding.

It is preferred that campers pre-register by contacting coach Shannon Barger at sbarger@madison.k12.in.us. Players can also register on the first day of the camp at the high school gym.

- The Madison Blades Fencing Club is offering its All-U-Can-Eat Barbeque Chicken & Beverages fundraising event to benefit the Lide White Boys & Girls Club at the Thomas Family Winery on Sunday from 1-5 p.m.

- The Madison Parks Department has scheduled a softball and baseball coaches meeting at the Brown Gym on Wednesday.

- The Lide White Memorial Boys & Girls Club will offer a Fast-Pitch Softball Pitching Clinic on Fridays, starting on March 1 from 4-5 p.m. in the Beano Goodman gymnasium.

The clinic is designed for girls ages 7-14 to learn the techniques and mechanics of pitching. The cost is $5 per participant per session or $30 for the six-week clinic, the participant would also receive a clinic T-shirt.

- The Madison Parks Department now has applications available for the 2013 baseball and softball seasons for those ages seven to 15.
