- Carroll County defeated Trimble County 53-43 in junior varsity boys basketball Tuesday in Bedford.

Michael Hall scored 12 points and Caleb McCarty had 12 for Carroll County. Ryan Blanton had 15 points, Josh Creech scored 11 and Josh Rexroat had 10 for Trimble.

Carroll visits Grant County on Friday. Trimble visits North Oldham on Thursday.

- Shawe and Southwestern split a pair of junior high girls basketball games on Tuesday.

Shawe won the seventh grade game 21-20. Megan Hesse had 14 points and Erin Cooper had four to lead Shawe.

Southwestern won the eighth grade game 36-30. Claire Higgins had 11 points and Megg Hensler scored 10 to lead the Hilltoppers.

- Madison's seventh grade girls basketball team lost to Jennings County 50-15 on Tuesday.

Emma Beasley led the Lady Bears with 10 points and Nettie Eigel and Regin Dean both had two points each.

Madison hosts South Ripley Wednesday.

- Hanover Baptist Church is currently holding signups for its winter basketball league through tomorrow.

The league starts Feb. 9 and is open to all students in grades preschool through high school. The cost is $35 each.

- Switzerland County boys and girls basketball teams will host Shawe Memorial for the inaugural "Mike Night" on Friday.

There will be a benefit dinner held in the high school cafeteria from 4:30-6:30 p.m. with all proceeds going to the scholarship foundation. Tickets are $3 for children 12 and under, $5 for 13 and up.

Switzerland County will also take donations.


- The Jefferson County Futbol Club will be accepting sign-ups for Spring soccer through Friday.

The club is looking for players U9-U17.

- The Madison Parks Department will have a Little League Football meeting Saturday at 2 p.m. at Harry's Stone Grill.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the football program, off-season conditioning possibilities, fundraising ideas and parent participation.

Anyone interested in helping with the 2013 Madison Parks Department's Little League Football program as a coach or parent volunteer is welcome to attend this information session.
