Madison’s Keara Eder shot a six-over 148 to win the Indiana Golf Federation Northern Junior Masters event at the Noble Hawk Golf Club in Kendallsville on Monday.

Eder, who will be a junior at Madison Consolidated High School in the fall, followed an impressive 71 in the first round on Sunday with a 77 on Monday that allowed NorthWood junior Cybil Stillson to come from behind and force a playoff.

Eder then won the title in the playoff, her first of the abbreviated summer season.

Eder, who reached the state finals last season as a sophomore at Madison, played an almost flawless round on Sunday, with two birdies and two bogeys to finish the day with an even 71 and the first-round lead.

Round two was a struggle from the start for the Cub. Eder bogeyed three of the first five holes then took a double bogey on No. 18 to close the first nine at five-over. Another bogey on No. 2 dropped her to six-over, but she recovered to play the final seven holes with one birdie and one bogey to finish the round with a six-over 77.

Lapel junior Macy Beeson finished third, two strokes back of the leaders with a 150.

Eder, who won seven events on the tour last summer, has played in only two events so far this year. She placed 26th in the Indiana Junior PGA Championships in Noblesville on June 3-4 with a 168 (83-85).
