Madison junior Kelsey Bilz will try to make history this weekend when she competes in the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Association Girls Wrestling State Championships in Kokomo.

Bilz recorded three pins en route to the finals in the regional at Edgewood where she finished second.

“Kelsey is a trailblazer. The IHSAA will eventually sanction girls wrestling as their own sport and when they do Kelsey will be known as one of the best to wear a Madison singlet,” Madison coach Tyson Skinner said. “Kelsey had the finals match in hand with a one-point lead with 25 seconds left and got caught. That girl was No. 3 in the state and I know Kelsey can beat her.”

The state finals will begin on Friday and run through Saturday.
