Madison's Hayden McMahon finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and four other relays placed in the finals of the IHSAA boys swimming sectional at Floyd Central on Saturday.

McMahon bested his preliminary time by nearly half-a-second and finished in 50.68. Jeffersonville's Karol Schmuck won the event in 48.17.

Madison also had all three of its relays in the finals. McMahon, Tate Turner, Sean Brink and Grant Ward placed fifth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:42.96. Ward, Calvin Willhite, Flynn Moore and McMahon were sixth in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.37. Moore, Willhite, Turner and Trajen Jenkins were sixth in the 200 free relay in 1:37.54.

Switzerland County's Mikhail Cole, Talen Taylor, Demetrie Liapis and Zack Rodgers finished eighth in 400 free relay in 3:59.47.

With only sectional champions and athletes achieving qualifying times advancing, Saturday's meet wraps up the swim season for all local schools.

"This year could not have ended better. Our boys were seeded sixth going into sectionals and finished fifth out of 16 teams. Out of 35 total swims we had 34 time cuts," Madison coach Stacy Crawley said. "We are very sad to see our five senior boys leaving, but feel that we have a great group of kids coming back to our soon to be remodeled pool next year."

Other finishes for Switzerland County were: Mikhail Cole, Ryan Brubaker, Demetrie Liapis and Zack Rodgers, 10th, 200 free relay, 1:47.41; Liapis, Talen Taylor, DeKota Godwin and Zac Park, 12th, 200 medley relay, 2:15.21; and Cole, 13th, 500 free, 5:55.76 and 14th, 200 free, 2:07.03.

Finishes for Southwestern were: Nathan Anderson, Zachary Hamilton, Dylan Truesdell and Travis Higham, 10th, 200 medley relay, 2:01.47; Ryan Furnish, Jacob Grayson, Nicholas Battjes and Jacob Shaffer, 11th, 400 free relay, 4:17.79; and Anderson, 15th, 100 back, 1:10.80 and 16th, 200 free, 2:12.31.

Jeffersonville ran away with the sectional championship with 515 points.
