Unlimited hydroplane racing will make its debut this weekend, only it won’t be on a lake or a river, but instead on your computer.

The H1 Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Series has announced the formation of the H1 Unlimited E-League, an online racing series that will kick off on Saturday with the virtual running of the Guntersville Lake Hydrofest in Guntersville, Alabama.

The racing league will be conducted on the HydroSim racing software, which was developed by Scott Przybylski of San Diego. HydroSim has been conducting online racing leagues for the past several years, featuring players from all around the world.

Modeling itself after the e-racing league that was conducted by NASCAR in recent weeks, the H1 Unlimited E-League will feature 12 HydroSim drivers that are selected by the H1 teams to represent their virtual racing teams. Drivers race virtual replicas of H1 Unlimited hydroplanes on replicas of some of H1’s greatest courses. Each E-League race will follow the traditional H1 racing format and will accumulate points throughout the season with a championship awarded at the end of the season.

Each E-League season will be conducted during H1’s typical offseason with dates to be announced later.

Several drivers have been announced by their respective teams, including both for the Miss Madison-owned teams. Kelsey Best will drive the U-6 Miss HomeStreet and Tim Johnson will drive the U-91 Goodman Real Estate.

Other drivers will be: Cei Bowen, U-3 Go3Racing; Nicholas “DJ” Miller, U-7 Spirit of Detroit; Scott Przybylski, U-9 Jones Racing; Peyton Hopp, U-10 Spirit of Detroit II; Travis Johnson, U-11 J&Ds; Quinton Miller, U-12 Graham Trucking; Mickey Washburn, U-21 Go Fast Turn Left Racing; Matt Johnson, U-98 Graham Trucking; Eddie Kanfoush, U-99.9 KISW Miss Rock; and Beau Rarig, U-440 Bucket List Racing.

The H1 Unlimited E-League races will be broadcast live on the H1 Facebook, YouTube and Twitch channels. Saturday’s race will begin at 3 p.m. EDT.
