Hanover College's men's basketball team has been picked to finish third in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in preseason voting by league coaches.

Transylvania (Ky.) University, which won the title outright last season, received seven first place votes in the Coaches' Preseason Poll. Transy garnered 97 points overall in the poll to edge Rose-Hulman, which finished with 92 points and the final three first place votes.

Hanover received 76 points in the poll after finishing second last year and is followed by Defiance (64 points), Franklin (49), Bluffton (48), Manchester (40), Anderson (36), Mount St. Joseph (34), and Earlham (14).

The Panthers return one member of the All-HCAC squad from a year ago. Ryan Nowicki, a senior guard from Carmel, earned a spot on the second-team All-HCAC squad after averaging 12.5 points per game last season.

In addition, Drake Hendricks, a senior guard from Muncie, and Brian Gunter, a senior forward from Louisville, were named as players to watch by the league from Hanover.
