Centre pulled away in the second half to post a 74-61 victory over Hanover in women’s basketball on Saturday.

The Panthers won each of the first two quarters and took a 30-28 lead into the lockerroom. But Centre roared out of the gates in the third to forge ahead 50-43 and added onto the lead in the fourth for the final margin.

Former Madison Cub Katie Hartman was 8-for-16 from the floor — including 3-for-3 on 3-pointers — to score 20 points and lead Hanover. The senior also had six rebounds.

Savannah Courtney had 14 points for Hanover while preseason all-American Alexis Nall was held to just four points on 1-of-8 shooting and 11 rebounds.

Hanover, now 1-3 on the season and losers of three-straight, travels to Franklin Wednesday for its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener.
