Hanover opened its 2013 lacrosse campaign with a 12-3 loss on the road at Hendrix (Ark.) on Monday.

Hendrix scored three goals in the first period and added two more to grab a 5-0 lead midway through the second quarter of a game that was delayed nearly three hours due to storms.

The squads exchanged goals the remainder of the period, with Nick Hermes and Luke Karnick scoring to keep the Panthers within 7-3 at the halftime.

Hanover outshot Hendrix 16-15 in the second half, but the Warriors netted three goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth for the final tally.

Hendrix finished the match with a 35-27 edge in shots. Hanover goalie Addison Sears had 14 saves through 60 minutes in the net.

Hanover was 11-of-19 in face-offs, with Derek Coe collecting five and Tim Gruber taking four.

Both squads had 48 ground balls. Chris Baney led the Panthers with seven, while Sears and Gruber had six each.
