Trimble County christened its new tennis complex at Bedford Elementary School with a 3-2 victory over Shelby County on Tuesday.

The Lady Raiders swept both doubles matches and No. 3 singles to claim the season-opening victory.

"All the Lady Raiders should be proud of themselves," Trimble coach Vanita Fogle said. "They represented TCHS well."

The No. 1 doubles team of Kalee Cook and Micah Hess played an outstanding match and scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Shelby's Rachel Dove and Melanie Raley.

Diane Payton and Cheyenne Crouch beat Kendall Sauder and Jordan Rood 8-5 in No. 2 doubles.

"I really look for (Cook and Hess) to be big powerhouse doubles this year," Fogle said. "Payton and Crouch) played awesome for us considering they had not practice together as doubles."

Trimble's Ciarra Harmon defeated Emilee Turly 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles to secure the team win.

In No. 1 singles, Elizabeth Moore lost to Shimizu Manu 7-5, 6-1 and Alex Lawhorn lost to Haily Coffey 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

"Our single players really put in a lot of awesome points and really are going to be a big factor in our quest for more team wins this year," Fogle said.

Trimble travels to Carroll County today.
