Madison’s “V2” wrestling squad split a pair of matches in a tri-meet at North Harrison on Tuesday.

The Cubs defeated host North Harrison 43-42 on a tiebreaker of having more falls and fell to West Washington 52-25.

“We saw a lot of positives tonight with this lineup. A lot of things these young guys can build on,” Madison coach Tyson Skinner said. “Bryce Turner really had a great night of wrestling.”

Turner posted a pair of wins on the night at 113 pounds, both by pin/fall. Turner pinned North Harrison’s Jayden Skaggs in just 50 seconds and subdued West Washington’s Caleb Ponsford in 36 seconds.

Four other Cubs posted perfect 2-0 records on the night. Christian Lyons (145 pounds) pinned North Harrison’s in 1:01 and scored a 16-5 major decision over West Washington’s Jacob Edwards. Noah Burkhardt (106) pinned North Harrison’s Landon Jones in 15 seconds and scored a forfeit against West Washington, Hayden Eblen (138) defeated West Washington’s Alex Neace 5-4 and got a forfeit against North Harrison, and Dalton Berry (182) pinned North Harrison’s Garrett Schroeder in 2:11 and got a forfeit against West Washington.

Eric Leach (220) won his only match of the night with a pin of North Harrison’s Seth Kendall in 1:03. Noah Foster (285) got a forfeit win against North Harrison but was pinned in 1:05 by West Washington’s Landon Pearson.

Grason Lee (120), Hunter Robbins (152) and Drake Youngblood (160) each went 0-2.

The Madison V2 team is now 2-5 on the season. The Cubs return to action Dec. 13 at Seymour when the main varsity team will go up against the conference and sectional rival Owls.
