Madison girls soccer lost 4-1 to Hoosier Hills Conference rival Bedford North Lawrence on Saturday in Madison.

The Stars were aggressive early and built a 3-0 halftime lead.

Emily Baer scored the Stars’ first goal In the sixth minute from an assist by Jennifer Ramirez and added a second goal in the 12th minute from a Lexy Russell assist to make it 2-0.

Claire Nordhoff put the Stars up 3-0 In the 22nd minute and Cierra Ramey scored for Bedford in the 44th minute.

The Cubs got their goal in late in the second half in the 75th minute to avoid the shutout.

Madison will host Providence at 6 p.m. today.

Madison boys soccer lost 4-0 at Batesville on Saturday.

The Bulldogs scored first — and ultimately the only goal they would — with 20:47 in the first half when Garth Griffith crossed the ball over top of the box and Johnathan Lynch jumped up and headed the ball down where Michael Ripperger touched it into the goal to finish the play.

Ripperger scored a second goal at 11:56 on a shot to the back post and Ian Torn scored at 6:25 off a touch by Zach Harmeyer to make it 3-0 at halftime.

Batesville outshot Madison 12-7 for the game. Madison (2-7-2) hosts Seymour Thursday.
