Carroll County pounded Eminence 69-24 and Switzerland County lost a heart-breaking 45-44 contest to Edinburgh in quadruple overtime in a pair of road games on Friday.

Carroll County shrugged off a slow start to collect its second win of the season.

“The defense played well and tackled well. We worked on some things on our pass defense and we’re slow to find the right mix,” Carroll County coach Lee Downey said. ‘Coach (Nate) Davis and our other coaches continue to tweak the defense until we worked through the deep passes.”

Switzerland County, meanwhile, came a pass interference call in the end zone away from pulling out its first-ever varsity win. The Pacers scored first in the fourth overtime but Edinburgh got the touchdown and extra point to claim the victory.

“The kids played tremendous tonight,” Switzerland coach Ryan Jesop said.

Carroll County, now 2-3 on the season, travels to Walton-Verona next week for its first district contest of the season. Switzerland, now 0-5, hosts Scottsburg.
