Madison’s swim teams ran into a tough opponent in the form of Columbus East and dropped both meets on the road on Tuesday.

The Cub boys won two events and fell 111-63 while the girls also had a pair of wins and lost 133-40.

The Cubs swam well tonight at a their conference meet versus a very strong Columbus East team,” Madison coach Ashley Schutte said. “Both the boys and girls dropped their meet but times are still encouraging as we enter conference championship and sectional preparation.”

Dillon Ray and Val Gonzalez each won two events to lead Madison.

Ray won the boys 50-yard freestyle in 23.50 and the 100 freestyle in 52.55 while Gonzalez won the girls 50 freestyle in 24.81 and the 100 butterfly in 59.76.

Other top finishes for the boys were: Jack Kelsey, second, 100 breast, 100 1:13.16; Casey Anderson, Kelsey, Eoin McMahon and Ray, second, 200 medley relay, 1:50.96 and second, 200 free relay, 1:40.06; Luke Bryant, Carson Denton, Leighton Wielgoszinski and Trenton Schmidt, second, 400 free relay, 4:10.46; Schmidt, third, 200 IM, 2:24.92 and third, 100 fly, 1:03.73; McMahon, third, 50 free, 24.71 and third, 100 breast, 1:13.67; Anderson, third, 100 free, 57.33 and third, 100 back, 1:13.00; Wielgoszinski, third, 500 free, 6:10.61; and Bryant, Denton, Nolan Wilhite and Schmidt, third, 200 free relay, 1:49.68.

Top finishes for the girls were: Katie Royce, second, 500 free, 6:35.42 and third, 200 free, 2:25.87; Anne Grady, Lucy Lynch, Tabetha Jameison and Gonzalez, second, 200 free relay, 1:58.57 and third, 200 medley relay, 2:17.66.

Madison travels to South Dearborn on Thursday.
