Southwestern volleyball dropped a road match 3-0 on Thursday to a very good Henryville team.

The Rebels lost the first set in a 27-25 nailbiter before the Hornets took control in sets two and three 25-17 and 25-20 for the sweep.

"We played well against a very good opponent tonight for most of the night," said Rebels head coach Chris Johnson. "We just could not finish well at all. I thought our defense played fairly well and we had some limited success with our offense."

Brittney Ralston had seven kills on 18-for-20 hitting and one ace on 9-for-10 serving. Meagan Ralston had five kills on 8-for-9 hitting while Sarah Anderson was 13-for-13 serving with 28 assists and eight digs. Karli Long added eight kills on 35-for-39 hitting and one ace on 12-for-13 serving with nine digs.

"Brittney and Meagan Ralston each hit the ball very efficiently up front for us," added Johnson. "We should have set those two more often but our defense did begin to falter a little towards the end of the match. Overall we need to learn an important lesson on how to play and especially finish a set strongly from this match and move on."

Southwestern (14-13) travels to Paoli on Saturday for the Paoli Invitational. The Rebels face Orleans in their first match at 9 a.m.
