— Southwestern’s Ellie Foley, Ashton Goode and Bella Marcum, Shawe’s Grace McAllister, and Switzerland County’s Jessie Duvall and Aleiah Thomas were each named to the All-Ohio River Valley Conference Girls Basketball Team in voting by league coaches.
Other members of the team were: South Ripley’s Cierra Copeland and Lindsey Meyer; Milan’s Cionna Bailey and Lauren Roell; Rising Sun’s Baylee Morris and Maddi Wilson; and Jac-Cen-Del’s Anna Hubbard, Paige Ledford and Annabelle Williams.
Milan’s Makayla O’Brien was named the Mental Attitude Award winner while Jac-Cen-Del’s Scott Smith was named Coach of the Year.

— Madison Junior High’s swim teams opened the 2020 season with a sweep of Greensburg on Thursday on the road.
The girls won 117-37 while setting 10 school records. The boys won 89-60.
Winners for the Madison girls were (all school records): Mei Shibata, 200 free, 2:09.38 and 50 breast, 35.25; Lilly Canida, 100 IM, 1:14.28 and 100 free, 1:04.08; Lauren Gage, 50 fly and 400 free, 4:49.99; Avery Johnson, 50 back, 33.60; Johnson, Shibata, Canida, and Emma Wynn, 200 medley relay, 2:11.18 and 400 free relay, 4:18.62; and Wynn, Charlotte Willhite, Reilly Kuppler and Gage, 200 free relay, 2:05.96.
Winners for the Madison boys were: Camdyn Sever, 200 free, 2:30.13; Daniel Whitley, 50 fly, 32.44 and 50 breast, 37.71; Matthew Vaughn, 400 free, 5:07.70; and Whitley, Kyle Roney, Evan Cammack and Vaughn, 400 free relay, 4:54.67.
Madison hosts Scottsburg on Wednesday.

— Trimble County’s junior varsity boys basketball team lost at Gallatin County 47-38 on Thursday.
Ethan Horn and Hunter Kelly led the Raiders with nine points each.
Trimble travels to Owen County on Saturday and to Bellevue on Monday.

— Shawe Junior High’s boys basketball teams each lost games at Austin on Wednesday.
The seventh grade lost 31-24 in its season finale. Brady Lathrem led the Hilltoppers with eight points while Miguel Morales chipped in six.
The eighth grade lost 40-37. The Toppers were led in scoring by Jacob Hertz and Philip Kahn with 17 each.
The eighth grade team moves on to the CYO tournament this weekend at Providence on Sunday.

— Shawe Memorial is in search of a varsity girls tennis coach, a varsity boys golf coach, a junior high golf coach, and a junior high track & field coach.

— The 2020 Madison Parks & Recreation Department’s summer baseball and softball forms are now available
The participation fee is $50. The deadline for 7-12 year olds is March 27 and the deadline for 13-15 year olds is May 8. A participant’s age is determined by their age on May 1.
All applications received by the deadline are guaranteed a roster spot. Those that sign up late may be placed on a waiting list and are subject to a $20 late fee.
Coaches are also needed at all levels for baseball and softball. There will be a coaches information meeting at the Brown Gym on Monday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.
Forms are available at the Parks office located in the Brown Gym, online at www.madisonparks.com, Champs sports and Corporate Apparel, Liberty Screen Printing and will be distributed to area schools.
