Madison High School senior cross country runner Clare Wilber has been selected as a 2019 Academic All-State Honorable Mention by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.

The criteria considered are SAT, ACT, and GPA as well as the athlete must be a senior and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests in their varsity sport. Wilber was the only athlete from Madison’s Lady Cubs cross country team to qualify for selection this year. Only 75 senior girls in varsity cross country in the state of Indiana were recognized.

“I am very proud of Clare as she was role model not just on the course but in the classroom,” Madison coach Josh Wilber said. “This says a lot for the academic program at Madison and for Clare’s focus on her studies while competing at a high level with her sport.”
