Southwestern’s swim teams each picked up a pair of wins in a three-way meet at home against Oldenburg Academy and Salem on Thursday.

The Rebel girls defeated Oldenburg 79-64 and Salem 93-55 while the boys beat Oldenburg 64-23 and Salem 62-25. Oldenburg beat Salem 90-61 in girls while Salem scored a 31-29 win in boys.

Despite mixing up the events, Southwestern swimmers still won a total of 16 events on the day.

“We swam some off events in order to get the kids better prepared for the ORVC on Saturday,” Southwestern coach Shelly Anderson said. “Caleb Geary had two best times tonight, while Julia Kaiser, Megan Thomas and Natsuki Fukazawa each had one. We want the kids to be tired at this time of the season, so we are excited to see some best times.”

Top finishes for the boys were: Ethan Stewart, first, 200 free, 2:21.55 and first, 100 fly, 1:12.78; Andrew Stoner, first, 200 IM, 2:43.18 and first, 500 free, 6:48.22; Caleb Geary, first, 50 free, 25.17 and second, 100 breast, 1:14.98; Ethan Besse, first, 100 free, 1:01.70 and first, 100 back, 1:13.23; Besse, Stoner, Geary and Stewart, first, 200 medley relay, 2:09.74 and first, 400 free relay, 4:19.71.

Claiming wins for the girls were: Julia Worcester, 200 free, 2:24.36 and 500 free, 6:17.97; Belle Crawford, 50 free, 30.64; Kassey Worcester, 100 free, 1:03.09 and 100 back, 1:15.21; Crawford, Megan Thomas, Kassey Worcester and Julia Worcester, 200 medley relay, 2:15.46; and Kassey Worcester, Trinity Stoner, Crawford and Julia Worcester, 400 free relay, 4:36.58.

Other top finishes for the girls were: Stoner, second, 200 IM, 2:55.0 and second, 100 fly, 1:30.57; Crawford, second, 100 free, 1:07.60; Natsuki Fukazawa, second, 100 breast, 1:31.05; Julia Kaiser, Fukazawa, Stoner and Thomas, second, 200 free relay, 2:11.16; and Thomas, third, 200 free, 2:44.71.

Southwestern will compete in the Ohio River Valley Conference championships at Milan on Saturday.
