Shawe girls basketball snapped a three-game losing streak with a 53-33 win over winless Milan Saturday at home.

Tied 10-10 at the end of the first quarter, Shawe used a 16-7 second quarter rally to seize a 26-17 advantage on Milan (0-17) by halftime and never look back.

"This was an ugly game of basketball," Shawe coach Camille Deuser said. "The first half our defense was the worst I have seen all year. We played better in the second half but still nowhere near how we played the last two games. In the end a win is a win and I will take it any way we can get one."

Shawe got a big offensive boost from Claire Higgins, who scored 23 points including six three-pointers. Maddie Waller joined Higgins in double figures with 13. Sarelia Rios-Garcia scored five points, Hannah Storm had four and Taylor Grote and Jenna Armstrong scored two each while Megan Goebel had three points and Stephanie Snodgrass added one.

Shawe (7-12, 2-3 Ohio River Valley Conference) hosts Henryville on Tuesday.
