Shawe’s girls tennis team remained unbeaten on the season with a 5-0 win at New Washington on Wednesday.

Despite the lopsided final score, the individual match scores were very competitive. Three of the matches went three sets and the two straight-set wins were closely contested.

But the Hilltoppers still found a way to pull out the win.

“Well I must say that was the most difficult 5-0 victory we’ve ever experienced. I think we would all agree that we didn’t come out ready to play across the board,” Shawe coach Steve Sims said. “Everyone started out a little rusty. The good part about it is that we were able to all recover, some sooner than others, and pull out a victory. This really showed us that we have a lot to work on. The positive thing I will say about it is that we never gave up. When three matches go three sets and you win them all, that says a little about your grit and determination. Even when we didn’t have our best night, we never gave up.”
