Southwestern and Switzerland County each wrapped up competition in the Fugate Memorial Invitational at Scottsburg over the weekend.

Southwestern won four of its nine matches on the day, going 1-3 on Friday and 3-2 on Saturday. Switzerland County went 2-7 for the weekend despite filling only half of its weight classes.

On Friday, Southwestern defeated New Washington 24-21 and lost to Paoli 31-30, Jennings County 35-24 and Seymour 51-30. On Saturday, the Rebels beat Scottsburg 36-30, Switzerland 37-36 and Salem 37-36 while losing to Eastern (Pekin) 45-36 and Madison 48-33.

Brandon Smith (138 pounds), Adam Anderson (145) and Mitchell Cline (152) each went 4-0 on Friday to lead Southwestern. Clifton Hendrickson (126) went 3-1, Kyler Brooks (195 and Logan Birchfield (285) each went 2-2, and Dawson Lichlyter (132) and Brady McLain (160) each went 0-4.

Switzerland County had one wrestler, Dominic Klem at 152 pounds, go a perfect 9-0 for the tourney. Jacob Wolf (120) went 7-2 and Dathan Brown (170) was 6-3.

Austin Wolf (126) and Tyler Leiland (160) each went 5-4, Aiden Day (132) went 3-6, Kyzick Byrum (145) went 2-7, and Alec Boggs (220) went 2-2.

“We want to get a few more wrestlers out to complete our line up and garner more team wins after coming off the most successful season last year,” Pacers coach Kris Sandlin said.

Southwestern visits Charlestown on Wednesday. Switzerland visits Lawrenceburg Dec. 12.
