Wyatt Supplee scored 32 points and Trevor Sandusky chipped in 10 to lead a short-handed Carroll County squad to a 67-64 win over Williamstown at home in boys basketball on Friday.

The Panthers were without sophomore standout Keishaun Mumphrey, who suffered what appeared to be a concussion in Wednesday’s loss at Henry County. But Supplee, who has missed significant time of his own this season with a broken hand, made up for his teammate’s loss.

Supplee was 11-of-21 shooting from the floor with three 3-pointers and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line for his game-high 32 points. He also had eight rebounds and two steals.

Carroll jumped out to a 16-11 lead after the first quarter and still led 44-31 after three quarters when Williamstown made a run. The Demons outscored Carroll 32-23 in the final quarter to make the game close before the Panthers held on for the win.

Carroll, now 11-11 overall and 3-3 in the North Central Kentucky Conference, hosts Louisville Collegiate on Tuesday.

Carroll girls win in overtime

Carroll County’s girls basketball defeated Williamstown 49-44 in overtime for their eighth win of the season.

Carroll, now 8-14 overall, finishes the North Central Kentucky Conference schedule with a 4-4 record. The Panthers host South Oldham on Monday on Teddy Bear Toss Night. Fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear — or several — to the game and toss them on the floor during halftime. Donated bears will be given to the Carrollton Police, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department and Kentucky State Police Post 5 to give to children they meet on service calls.

Before Friday’s game former Lady Panther and current assistant coach Hannah Devine was added to the Carroll County athletics Wall of Fame. Devine, a 2012 graduate, ranks third in girls basketball scoring with 1,719 career points.
