Shawe falls 4-1 to Tigers

Shawe girls tennis lost 4-1 at Lawrenceburg on Thursday.

Phoebe Grote picked up Shawe’s lone win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jasmyn Blackburn at No. 2 singles.

Abigail Hill played a close first set only to fall 7-5, 6-0 to Grace Stfaviyan at No. 1 singles and Kristin Snodgrass lost 6-3, 6-4 to Evelyn McAndrew in No. 3 singles.

In doubles action, Lina Leatherman and Kelly Hesse lost 6-2, 6-2 to Sheridan Houze and Macey Badenheimer at No. 1 and Caroline Grote and Jessica Lopez lost 6-4, 6-1 to Callie Pope and Kylie Morgan at No. 2.

“Phoebe Grote had a nice win today with consistent play. In many of the other matches, we had way too many unforced errors,” Shawe coach Natalie Hill said. “We need to work on consistency and smart play. We will keep practicing because you only get better with hitting lots of tennis balls.”

Shawe (1-3) visits New Washington on Wednesday.
