Madison’s Justin Tereshko shot a three-over 75 and sits in 88th place after the first round of the Western Amateur Open at the Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel on Tuesday.

Tereshko, a Madison High School graduate and the current head golf coach at Hanover College, is one of six players bunched at 75, seven strokes back of the leaders in the very tough field.

Five players currently sit on top of the board with 68s: Maxwell Moldovan of Uniontown, Ohio; Connor Creasy of Abingdon, Virginia; Joseph Pagdin of Sheffield, England; Matthias Schmid of Maxhuetle, Germany; and Turk Pettit of Sugar Grove, North Carolina.

The tournament continues through Saturday.
