Madison’s Ryan Thurston pitched another two scoreless innings for the Gary SouthShore RailCats in a relief appearance at Sioux Falls, Iowa, on Saturday.

Thurston came on in the fifth inning with the RailCats trailing the Canaries 6-2 and retired the first five batters he faced before giving up a two out double to Mike Hart in the sixth inning and then ending the inning on a ground out. Gary went on to lose 12-4 to fall to 10-11 on the season.

Thurston, a second year pro out of Western Kentucky, has now appeared in seven American Association games — stints at Chicago and Gary — and pitched 11 innings with 10 strikeouts, five walks and six hits. He’s allowed one earned run and stands 1-0 with a .82 ERA and a 0.88 WHP.

The RailCats host the opener in a series with the Winnipeg Goldeneyes tonight at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary.
