Madison’s Ryan Thurston pitched a scoreless inning in the Gary SouthShore RailCats’ 7-5 loss at Cleburne, Texas on Saturday.

Thurston, a left-hander, entered the game in the eighth inning with Gary SouthShore trailing the Railroaders 6-5 and retired all three batters he faced without issuing a walk or striking out a batter.

Cleburne then scored a run in the ninth off of another Gary reliever for the final margin.

The outing lowered Thurston’s ERA to 3.00 on the season.

He is now 3-0 overall and has allowed eight earned runs on 18 hits in 21 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts and nine walks.

Gary begins a four-game series at the Chicago Dogs, Thurston’s old team, on Tuesday.
